Julie Matthews | Edmonton Brand Photography

How do you make fraud prevention look FUN?!
That was part of the challenge when planning Edmonton brand photography for Julie Matthews, a Fraud Prevention Educator and Scam Expert who wanted a collection of photos that showed both her expertise AND her personality.
Julie started her own business in 2024 and provides scam awareness presentations for seniors, businesses, communities and youth. Her passion for fighting scams is a huge part of what makes her such an engaging speaker, and we wanted that to come through in her photos.
The goal?
Strong expert energy.
Warm + approachable.
A little glam.
A lot of personality.
And, obviously, plenty of purple. π
Creating Brand Photography for a Professional Speaker

Julie does a lot of speaking, so one of our biggest priorities was creating photos that actually showed her doing what she does.
We didn’t just need pretty headshots.
She needed images that could help potential clients immediately picture her speaking at their event, educating their community or connecting with their audience.
So we planned photos of Julie presenting to groups, speaking at a podium, using a microphone and interacting one-on-one with people.
That was especially important because Julie works with a lot of seniors and wanted her photos to communicate the kindness, patience and empathy she brings to conversations about scams.
At the same time, the people hiring her are often organizations, businesses and financial institutions. Her photos also needed to communicate trust, integrity and expertise.
Basically, we needed:
βI know my sh*t and you should absolutely hire me.β
AND:
βYou can feel completely comfortable talking to me.β
Both can exist in the same brand.
Making Fraud Prevention Look Fun

Then we got to play.
Because scam prevention gives us WAY more creative material to work with than you might think. π
During our planning, Julie and I created a Pinterest vision board and brainstormed ways to visually represent different parts of her work without making every photo overly literal or serious.
We incorporated phones and scam calls, laptops, microphones and creative props. We even used papers and sticky notes with different types of scams written on them to create images she could use when educating her audience.
Those photos are very specifically Julie.
They’re useful for social media posts, presentations, marketing materials and educational content because they’re not just generic photos of a woman sitting at a laptop.
They actually connect to what she talks about.
And THAT is one of my favourite parts of strategic personal brand photography.
Your photos should give you something to say.
A Full Day Edmonton Brand Photography Session

Julie booked a Full Day brand photoshoot, which gave us the time to create a ton of variety without trying to cram everything into one location or one look.
We photographed at a clean, modern show home for polished lifestyle and working images, used the studio for portraits and some of our more creative concepts, and created multiple looks throughout the day.
We also made sure to incorporate Julie’s signature purple throughout the shoot.
Purple isn’t just a colour she happens to like. It’s a recognizable part of her brand, so incorporating it through her wardrobe, props and environments helped make the finished collection feel cohesive with the rest of her marketing.
And because Julie wanted both authority AND personality, we didn’t stop at the polished professional images.
We got the big laughs.
The glam.
The high heels.
The sparkle.
The slightly ridiculous prop ideas. π
All the pieces that make the photos feel like her rather than a generic version of what a professional speaker is βsupposedβ to look like.

After the shoot, Julie said:
βI wanted branding photos that captured the unique nature of my fraud prevention business… Christina really believes in taking shots that do speak directly to your brand. The difference really shows.β
YES.
That’s exactly it.
Great brand photography isn’t just about looking good in photos.
It’s about intentionally creating a library of images that communicates your expertise, personality, values and the experience of working with you.
Julie now has everything from polished portraits and speaker photos to fun, creative scam-prevention concepts and approachable lifestyle images.
One business.
One person.
A LOT of different stories she can tell with the photos.
And every one of them still feels like Julie.
Planning Your Own Edmonton Brand Photography Session?
If you’re the face of your business, you probably need more than one great headshot.
You need images that show what you do, what you know, who you help and what makes working with you different.
That’s exactly what we can create during a Full Day brand photoshoot.
We’ll plan the strategy, locations, outfits, props and must-have images together beforehand so that when shoot day arrives, we’re not just showing up and hoping for pretty pictures.
We’re creating a strategic library of personal brand photography you can actually use throughout your website, social media, marketing and content.
