From Too Many Ideas to a Brand That Clicked
Have you ever had so many ideas for your visual branding that you somehow end up making it HARDER to figure out what you actually want?
You’ve done the Pinterest board. You’ve saved a bunch of colour palettes. You know the general vibe you’re going for. You have fonts you like, brands you love and screenshots all over your phone.
You are absolutely NOT short on ideas.
You just cannot freaking LAND ON ONE. π
This is pretty much exactly where Alexis was when she booked a Brandspiration Session with me.
She already had good ideas. She’d done the Pinterest board. She’s great in Canva and knew she wanted her visual branding to feel more like her. Her main goal for our 60 minutes together was pretty simple: finally nail her brand colours and get some direction.
When You Have TOO Much Brand Inspiration
Alexis had already done a lot of the work. She had a Pinterest board full of inspiration and could recognize the colours, styles and overall feeling she was drawn to.
The problem wasn’t finding things she liked.
It was figuring out which of those things actually belonged together.

And honestly, this is where having LOTS of inspiration can start working against you. You can save 47 beautiful colour palettes, 16 fonts and 700 Pinterest pins, but eventually somebody has to decide which freaking pink we’re actually using. π
Turning All Those Ideas Into Visual Branding That Clicks
So we hopped on Zoom, shared screens and started messing around with it together.
We pulled colours from Alexis’ inspiration, tried different combinations, changed our minds a few times, moved things around and kept playing until we hit the thing we were looking for:
βYep. THAT’S me.β

Instead of a collection of random colours she liked, Alexis now had a palette that worked together and felt like HER.
And once the colours clicked, everything else started getting easier.
Finding the Fonts That Felt Like Alexis
Next up: fonts.
Again, Alexis wasn’t starting from scratch. We tried a few different options and played with combinations until we landed on one that basically screamed Alexis.

Suddenly, all those separate ideas floating around started to feel like they actually belonged to the same brand.
You Don’t Always Need a Whole Rebrand
This might be my favourite part of Alexis’ Brandspiration Session.
She didn’t need me to disappear for three weeks and build an entire visual brand for her. She likes Canva. She’s good at it. She wanted to be involved and already had a pretty solid idea of what she liked.
She just needed another creative brain in the room to help her figure out which direction to GO.
And once we’d figured that out? She freaking ran with it.
Alexis went straight into Canva afterward and started putting the rest together herself using the colours and fonts we’d landed on during our session.
That’s exactly what I love about a Brandspiration Session.
Sometimes you’re already 90% of the way there. You don’t need a whole rebrand, and you definitely don’t need to spend another three weeks dicking around in Canva wondering whether pink #17 somehow feels more β¨youβ¨ than pink #23. π
Sometimes you just need someone to look at the 700 ideas floating around in your head, ask some questions, try some shit with you and finally go:
THAT ONE. That’s the direction.
When Your Brand Finally Clicks
That’s what happened here.
Alexis didn’t leave our session with a brand I’d created for her. She left with clarity around the ideas she’d already been collecting and a visual direction she was excited to keep building herself.
And I think that’s an important distinction.
Good visual branding doesn’t have to mean throwing everything out and starting again. Sometimes it’s about figuring out what’s already working, narrowing down the ideas and finally getting everything to feel like it belongs together.
If you’re sitting on a Pinterest board, 47 colour options and a Canva account full of half-finished ideas thinking WHY CAN’T I MAKE THIS ALL GO TOGETHER?!… this might be exactly the kind of help you need. π
